How to clean turkey grease from oven
Degreasing with Baking Soda
To removed spilled turkey grease from the oven, there is a natural cleaning option. Baking Soda or Bicarbonate of Soda is a great natural product for removing oven grease. Because turkey and duck grease can be particularly messy, we recommend wearing rubber gloves to protect your hands.
You will need:
- Gloves
- Baking soda
- Empty spray bottle
- Water
- Damp cloth
Remove Grease with Baking Soda
- Add 3 tablespoons of baking soda into a spray bottle, then fill with water.
- Mix the solution together until the baking soda has dissolved.
- Ensure your oven is turned off and completely cold.
- Spray the solution onto the greasy oven areas, including the sides and top of oven.
- Leave the solution to work its magic on the oven overnight.
- The next day, remove the solution and the grease with a damp cloth.
- Rinse cloth and repeat until the oven is sparkling and free from grease.
Oven Cleaning with Dishwashing Liquid
Dishwashing liquid is a fantastic degreaser for our pots, pans and dishes but it is also a great product for removing oven grease and grime.
You will need:
- Gloves
- Dishwashing liquid of choice
- Bowl of warm water
- Soft cloth
Remove Oven Grease with Dishwashing Liquid
- Fill a bowl with warm water and a squirt of dishwashing liquid.
- Ensure your oven is turned off and completely cold.
- Remove the oven racks from the oven.
- If the racks also need degreasing, place them in the water solution to soak.
- Then using a soft cloth, warm water and dishwashing soap, begin to wipe away the grease from the oven. Don’t forget the sides and top of the oven’s interior. It’s important to also remove burn on food from oven floor, however this will require more elbow grease.
- Rinse your cloth and repeat the process until the grease is all gone.
- Remove the racks from the solution and wipe them clean, then return to the oven.
