Why remove grease from oven?

Leaving grease and grime in your oven can cause the oven to smoke the next time you cook. This is because the grease and fat will continue to burn, resulting in a potential fire hazard. The smoke can trigger fire alarms and the bitter, burnt flavour may impact the taste of your next meal. Plus, turkey grease can be very smelly and leave an unpleasant smell in your kitchen every time you cook.

Clean your oven before Christmas

Deep cleaning your oven before the Christmas festivities will make cleaning your oven post-Christmas much easier. Removing any burnt-on food and grime in your oven will not only help your turkey taste as good as it should, but it will also be easier to remove grease afterwards.

Here is our ultimate guide on how to clean an oven.

Degreasing with Baking Soda

Baking Soda or Bicarbonate of Soda is a great natural product for removing oven grease. Because turkey and duck grease can be particularly messy, we recommend wearing rubber gloves to protect your hands.

You will need:

  7. Rinse cloth and repeat until the oven is sparkling and free from grease.

Oven Cleaning with Dishwashing Liquid

  6. Rinse your cloth and repeat the process until the grease is all gone.
  7. Remove the racks from the solution and wipe them clean, then return to the oven.

Professional Oven Clean

Although these natural DIY cleaning methods will reduce the amount of turkey grease in your oven, it may be difficult to completely remove thick grease without a professional deep cleaning service.

Sadly, DIY methods require a lot of elbow grease and are limited in their results, they will likely only remove the surface grease. If your oven requires a deep clean that will completely remove grease and grime, then a professional oven cleaning service is the best option.

The unique Ovenclean process removes all grease, fat and burnt-on food whilst fully protecting the enamel surface of your appliance. Plus, Ovenclean specialists use an innovative, no added caustic system, which means your kitchen is safe, hygienic and free of nasty fumes.
