National Popcorn Day 2019: Recipes
It’s 19th January, and that can only mean one thing here at Ovenclean…it’s national popcorn day!
In honour of the special day, we’re sharing some exciting recipes with you. Yes, we know it’s January and we’re all on a diet, but did you know popcorn has more protein than any other cereal grain and more iron than eggs. So, we can eat it guilt-free, right?
Some of these recipes include popping your own corn. But, you can buy microwaveable popping corn for as little as £2.60 from Ocado.
Sugar and Cinnamon Popcorn
A classic sweet treat, and so simple to make. One of our favourites is this Cinnamon-Sugar Popcorn recipe from Allrecipes.
Spicy Popcorn
Our own recipe spicy popcorn is quick and easy to make:
- Pop your plain popcorn in the microwave, following the instructions on the packet.
- Sprinkle with some spicy paprika and stir until all the corn is coated
- Enjoy!
Cheesy Garlic Popcorn
This one just sounds like a dream, cheese and garlic! Look no further, we have found the recipe. This Garlic-Parmesan Popcorn recipe from myrecipes is not one to be missed.
Chocolate Covered Popcorn
We all love chocolate, and a sweet recipe wouldn’t be complete without it. Chocolate covered popcorn is easy to make.
- Pop your corn in the microwave (following the packet’s instructions)
- Cover in melted chocolate and leave in the fridge to set
- Enjoy!
If you’re trying to eat healthier this January, you can always substitute the chocolate for Sweet Freedom’s Choc Pot, at just 13 calories per teaspoon!
So, put a film on and enjoy your weekend this national popcorn day.
